Friday Fictioneers 7/24/2020

Many thanks to Rochelle @ Rochelle Wisoff-Fields-Addicted to Purple for orchestrating Friday Fictioneers. The challenge is to write a story based upon a photo prompt (today she gets extra credit for providing the photo, as well). With fewer than 101 words we are challenged to contrive a beginning, middle, and an end.

Title: Pleasure Palettes
Genre: Romance (autobiographical) Fiction
Word count: 99

I was at my easel trying for a loose, semiabstract, colorful urban cityscape.
Conjetti walked in.
β€œDid I hear you talking to someone?”
β€œIt was your boyfriend. He’ll call back later.”
She cleared her throat.
β€œOkay. It was Julie. We discussed art. She said watercolor is a metaphor for letting go.”
β€œAnd you said?”

β€œI told her it was like herding wet, angry cats of different colors that don’t mix well.”

She reached around and grabbed me, biting my neck.
β€œFollow me,” she said with a sultry gaze.
I smiled, β€œAt your service m’lady.”
β€œYou’d better be.”
β€œYes, Ma’am!”

  1. Dear Bill,

I’ve often mused how facilitating Friday Fictioneers can be akin to herding cats. You took the phrase to a whole new colorful level. Sensual and well rendered piece.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

    1. Thank you, Rochelle.

Since I immediately related to the photo of your palettes, the story (mostly true) emerged.
Thank you for herding us so well.

      Peace,

      Bill

  2. I absolutely adore this, Bill. (Especially happy for you that it is partially autobiographical πŸ˜‰ )
And it is so reminiscent of the type of conversations Mick and I would have had – only I don’t paint so I must have been interrupted doing something else!

      1. Sweet. I should have gone out as soon as I got up as it’s already getting sticky gross out there.
Humble pie… you are so funny – and so talented. I love your writings.
