Many thanks to the wonderful Rochelle for herding us cats on Friday Fictioneers. We write micro-stories inspired by a new photo each week, provided by very creative and imaginative compatriots. Here is the photo and my story for this week.

Genre: Fiction
Word count: 100
Title: Krumpas Coop
Excruciating pain shot from my foot to my brain. I yelled, “Those damn Legos are diabolical. That hurt!”
Mary yelled back, “Are Steven and Julie there?”
I said, “I think the Krampas got them. The window is open and no sign of them.”
Mary walked in, “Well Krampas knows how to write.” She handed me the note.
I read aloud, “The ransom is a bag of M&M’s, a gallon of Rocky Road ice cream, and two new ponies.”
As I handed the note back, we heard giggling coming from the attic.
I asked, “Do we negotiate with terrorists or Krampas?”
Look both ways and mind the gaps.
Especially when Legos are involved.

Indulge, yes. Negotiate, no

nice try, though. right?

I so love this, Bill. Let the negotiations begin!

Oh…. the many talents of the very young. Good to see you liked it. Happy Hump Day, Dale. Coming to you from the Lamppost Coffee Shop in Georgetown, TX on a cold, rainy day. 🙂

Ah yes. they can be rather talented. Happy Hump Day, Bill. From the office after having done a tour of the lake and a run-around for supplies in the beautiful sunshine (surely way too cold to your liking 😉 )

I like cold, crisp days. The fall weather here is great, but we have a change today: wet and much cooler (finally). I will not get much Nano writing done today, but I am trying. I got a new monitor today, so (of course) I had to redo my entire workspace to accommodate. 🙂

I love them. It’s now my favourite season, quite frankly. I love when I need a sweater, and maybe even some gloves 😉
I said I was going to join and I’ve a whopping 263 words written. Methinks either I pick it up or stop pretending.
You, however, I have complete faith in – once you’re all set up, of course! 🙂

I could not work and do this. I did not get much done today. Oh well. I’m on the curve. I hope to jump ahead tomorrow. Then out of town to see family for the weekend. We shall see. Someone said Nano allows you to pick your word count. I have not. The site is not very user friendly. 🙂

Interesting ransom ware!
The terrorists will share the loot, right? All of them can enjoy the goodies together! 🙂

Right. But they each want their own pony. 🙂

I can vouch for the pain of standing in Lego! Good fun!

A true pleasure and pain toy.

I’d think the negotiations should start with reparations for stepping on Legos. 😉

I agree, Na’ama. If anyone has children and they have Legos, it is an honored custom to feel the pain. 🙂

Those LEGO’s must have been part of a mine field they set up.

Nice try, but I think I’d leave them in the attic and enjoy a warm cup of tea until they come down hungry!

OMG! Stepping on legos with bare feet is THE WORST!! Good story.. I would negotiate with the terrorists personally. It will probably be an easier deal! LOL! 😀

Indeed.

That’s a pretty hefty ransom! Of course, not paying could result in stepping on more random Lego…

Your story prompts me to wonder whether there was even the shadow of a hope in their minds that they would get the ponies!

I’m at my daughter’s and we are discussing what to do about the two mules that just showed up. Hmm 🤔 I wonder if they would know the difference.

This is so much fun. Little manipulative devils. Or angels. Do you give in or stay firm I wonder.
BTW, read your comment to Dale above. I think November Nano is always 50K words of writing. The Camp Nano in April lets you chose word count or hours used for editing or such. And good luck with it! (Ive done the November Nano twice, it’s not for me. The Camp, otoh, is great fun and I’ll probably do that again next April).

I thought it was 50K also. I was told you could select, but I don’t see how. I am falling behind cuz out of town. In April I do NaPoWriMo. I write to the prompts on that. It is quite a challenge. I’ve not done camp nano, but many of my friends love it.

You still can have fun with the community, get the pep talks, read the info, no matter how many words you write in November. The only thing you’re not getting when being honest are the fancy badges and banners (I think half-price for Scrivener and other sponsor goodies would be good for participation, not winning unless they’ve changed that).
