This was a complex prompt, so it is best to go to the dVerse page and read about Lisa’s Time Machine Bucket List: TMBL and the subsequent prompt with options.
I think I sort of did Option 1, but this comes from my heart. I know Lisa said ten and cull out, but I can’t do that. I focused on both the stars and the venues because, seriously, I would try to go.
Coming Around Again
Forty-five (or more)
albums later, fifty years
of water under two bridges,
if we could go back.
Back to when you opened up
to your kind, to your fans,
and friends and family,
your folks, without
a care or anxiety
for either of us.
Long over now except for
the forever connection
of Ben and Sally; I still
love to hear you and James
sing duets and harmonies.
Save me seats so I can go back;
back with my beloveds
with you to concerts like:
Live from Martha’s Vineyard,
or from Grand Central,
or from aboard the QM 2.
Can we meet at the Eagles’
Sad Café? It’s been fifty years
Carly. What do ya say?
Listen,
mock, yeah,
ing, yeah—let’s sing!
Look both ways, but when the more is in the past,
we can wish for times to go back to for just a brief concert to visit,
to sit and listen, to applaud, perchance to take in a toke.
Mind the gaps until time travel is perfected. Our goals are very specific.

And Carly—
Bill, what affection I feel that you have for this (mocking) bird that sings like an angel. Has it been that long. Love “fifty years of water under two bridges” as yes, we’re aging right along with them. Been so long since hearing this song of hers, thank you for bringing it back to me. She still sounds the same!

Thank you, Lisa. You seem to have understood the poem well. Since Carly struggled with anxiety or a form of stage (not) freight, her live appearances were few but special. 🙂

You’re very welcome, Bill.

A wonderful tribute to a great artist. I love how personal you made this. I once listened to You’re so vain on repeat, just like I do when a special song captures my attention.

Thank you. I do the same. 🙂

Effing WP. I just lost my comment.
Lemme try again.
Wonderful poem, Bill. Your love and knowledge of all things Carly shines through.
I started reading the challenge and said to myself. Nope. Way too complicated for moi.

Thank you, Dale. I can count all concerts I’ve attended on one hand. Some not so great. So, that made her prompt an assignment of challenge. 🙂
Yes, WP is as buggy (sometimes) as FB is loony. The other day they decided Lisa was anonymous (someone).

Oh, not my case. I have an herbal tea box filled with my stubs from all the concerts I went to. Back when a really expensive one was $14.95!!
Yeah, you need to be logged in to become someone 😉 No comments on FB.

I do love the tribute, and yes I think that there were those artists you would really have loved to see way back when they started out performing. For me it would have been great to see Kate Bush the few times she ever performed.
