The mid-December and Hanukkah Holidays are upon us as we celebrate Sandra’s birthday. Susan Rouchard submitted a dark, artful, candle-lit pic for us to ponder and then create our 100-(or fewer)-word story to post.

They ran like cats out of hell. Tonto turned right, skidded left, then jumped through an open door. Duchess followed. Fat Jack barely made it before the dogs got him.
Tonto said, “I don’t know why we run, Duchess. They’ll catch FJ. We’d be long gone.”
Jack tried to hiss and arch his back but couldn’t.
“Leave him alone. He runs interference.” Moaned Duchess.
“Where are we?” asked Fat Jack.
“Oh, candles! Where do I start?” said Duchess.
“I’ll take the top shelf.” Tonto leaped up. “You two start knocking over the lower ones.”
They concluded the fire was arson.

Look both ways and light a candle before you curse the darkness.
Mind the gaps for the curious and destructive cats.

Hahahaha! I love it! And very glad they didn’t leave FJ behind – that would have been so not cool.
I was chatting with my beau the other night and he started cursing as his daughter’s cats (who are staying with him) were knocking everything off the table.
We never had cats that did that!

Thanks, Dale.
I cannot recall if ours did that, but I have seen others at work. Chuffed that my story made you laugh. 🙂

So many do – there wouldn’t be a bazillion cat memes out there, if there weren’t! I laughed for sure. I had more than one Disney movie come to mind, too!

Oh these cats are dangerous. I think they might actually be ‘cats out of hell’ 🙃. Fun story.

I can soooo identify with this. I’ve just been round cat-proofing all our christmas decorations. Well I think I have. Good one.

Oh how mean, how could they even consider leaving FJ behind. I laughed a lot about this. Our cats only ever ruined Christmas tree decorations, the rest was of no interest.

A feline romp through a–museum? Church? Either way, rollicking fun, and I’m so glad Fat Jack made it out 🙂

FJ is everyone’s favorite. The name, Fat Jack, is from the song “Anyway the Wind Blows” by JJ Cale.

I love this trio, I’m glad FJ was okay. He sounds like our Indy, She isn’t built for speed either. Cute story!

Dear Bill,
Cats just have no respect, do they? This made me laugh.

Most of the cats I’ve had have been graceful enough to weave in and out of things without disturbing them. Others have been clumsy and knocked over everything.
