Why do clowns frown?
They’re funny being sullen and glum.

I like Eeyore. His dark humor and
saturnine persona are both spot-on.
His anti-supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
attitude, taken too literally, can be sad,
but why be so literal? He’s not Russian,
not a nihilist. He’s just an old jackass.

Look both ways for the humor in the ridiculousness of life.
Mind the gaps, but not too closely, they can be downers, too.

    1. Thank you, Dale. Of course, you’re right.
I got the idea when I looked it up (I do that even when I know what it means, as in this case).
While I agree that constantly negative people are annoying, I find the exact opposite to be equally so. 🙂

      1. I always look up the word, no matter what (am often surprised by other meanings).
Yes. Those way too chipper folk can be quite aggravating!

  1. What a great post! I love Eeyore and his unique outlook on life. It’s so true that if we take things too literally, we can miss out on the humor in the ridiculousness of life. My question is, what advice would you give to someone who has a tendency to take things too literally?

    1. Thank you, Frances.
Some of my family and friends who are literal seem to manage well by knowing it. It helps for me to know who is more literal so that I can try to see both sides.
